What happened to Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon?

Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon were Dutch students who went missing while hiking the El Pianista trail in Panama on April 1, 2014. Despite their families launching a search, they weren't found until months later when a local woman found Froon's backpack near a riverbank. It contained their phones and Froon's camera, with photos suggesting the girls wandered off the trail. Mysteriously, 90 flash photos were taken in near-complete darkness deep in the jungle nine days after disappearing. The discovery of the backpack led to the search along the river, finding their scattered remains confirmed through DNA testing as belonging to Kremers and Froon. However, the exact cause of their death remains unknown. In addition, there are discrepancies in the natural decomposition process of their remains, raising questions about the events leading to their deaths.
